From the time I was a little girl I have been fascinated by the inner life and the human potential to create, although I would have used very different words then. Much later as a contractor to NASA employed by companies like Hughes and Raytheon, I saw so much suffering in the corporate workplace. I came to conclude that tapping human potential is a big part of reducing suffering in the workplace. I am passionate about working with leaders who want to create inspired business environments and make contributions of magnitude with very practical strategies and approaches.

Professionally Speaking…

I coach, facilitate learning, and speak to those who are called to a larger vision and more meaning in their lives. I am deeply satisfied working with clients who have a positive impact on other people’s lives and who are gifted with intellect, intuition, and the desire to serve.

I bring approximately 20 years’ diverse experience in education, government, and the corporate environment. My first career was as an educator, teaching English, Spanish and English as a Second Language at the middle school, high school, and adult levels in four different schools in three different countries. During this time, I took a year off from teaching to be a ski bum in Telluride, Colorado, an important part of my resume.

When I left teaching, I moved into a completely different domain, working as a corporate employee under contract to NASA. There I coordinated people and projects in NASA’s Learning Technologies Project. I had great connections with people and projects and had a fulfilling experience in the corporate world. At the same time, I was moved by a deep desire to address the challenges and suffering I saw there.

I found the answer to that desire in my next career. As a coach, I feel I make my most authentic contribution in this world. I’ve finally discovered what I wanted to be when I grew up!

On a Personal Note…

I am a nut about personal mastery, which to me means constantly advancing intellectually, emotionally, spiritually, and physically. My daily sitting meditation practice and retreats, a career that requires deep personal presence, and meaningful relationships are all manifestations of my orientation toward a rich inner life. At the same time, I like to be just a little bit of a jock.

I have lived in Arizona; Colorado; Torreon, Mexico; Misawa, Japan; the Washington, DC metropolitan area; and again in Arizona – in that order. I’ve gained so much by spending time in vastly different cultures and geographies. I speak fluent Spanish and very bad Japanese, and I’ve studied a smattering of other languages.

Home for me now is the lush desert of Tucson, Arizona where I live with my remarkable family. I attended my twentieth and twenty-fifth high school reunions pregnant – others were there with their grandchildren! – having had our two inspiring daughters when I was 38 and 43. I’m crazy about my girls and my husband, a writer and community college professor who helps people find their voices.

I love metaphors, and one of my favorites is that in order to achieve a big goal like crossing the Grand Canyon, it’s best for me to find the path of greatest ease and to break it down to manageable chunks. I’ve stopped trying to jump across the canyon, only to end up crashing to the bottom. Now I prefer to walk step by step down to the river, step by step across the bridge, and step by step back up the other side. I enjoy the beauty, the company, my own strength . . . and the support of my trekking poles!
